The coming election fills me with excitement and dread. This is the first election I will be voting in and so I do not have all my optimism and hope killed quite yet. I am genuinely excited to vote.
However I worry that Cameron and his homophobic crew will get in and that we will see a return to the ways of homosexual life under section 28. I know Cameron has apologised for his past Tory Governments homophobia, however what has he done recently for the gay community? He has still to come out on record on gay rights and issues. In 2008 he voted to restrict the IVF rights of lesbian women and he has said nothing against the homophobic comments the shadow secretary recently made. In an interview with Gay Times he stumbled awkwardly around questions and even stopped the cameras at one point. None of this fills me with confidence for the Tory party. A vote for conservatives is a vote for homophobia.
I am looking forward to the live debates and I hope that the gay question will be raised so that Cameron will finally be forced to answer and Britian will see him and and his party as the homophobic idiots they really are.
A final point would be as much as i would hate a vote for the conservatives, not voting at all is even worse so make sure you at least try and find out the each parties policies and register to vote so that on the 6th of May you can have your say and make a difference. Though please don’t vote Cameron….
